Washing
Polyester pleats can be machine washed on a gentle cycle, cold, and dried flat. Silk pleats should be dry-cleaned by a cleaner familiar with pleated fabrics. Never tumble-dry pleated items — heat and motion distort folds.
Storing
Hang pleated garments vertically on padded hangers to let pleats drape naturally. For long-term storage, fold only along existing pleat lines — never perpendicular.
Traveling
Roll pleated items loosely (with pleats intact) and place in a breathable garment bag. Avoid packing under heavy items.
Restoring pleats
If pleats have softened, a professional steam press can restore them. Home ironing often fails to reproduce the precision of industrial setting.
